Introducing HEART: Henkel's Leap in Adhesive Sustainability
Henkel Adhesive Technologies, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, has unveiled a groundbreaking digital tool, the Henkel Environmental Assessment Reporting Tool (HEART), designed to enhance transparency in sustainability impacts. This tool provides a comprehensive view of the product carbon footprint (PCF) for about 58,000 Henkel adhesive products. Developed in collaboration with Capgemini, HEART offers end-to-end transparency from cradle-to-gate, covering emissions from raw materials, production, packaging, and logistics.
The robust calculation methodology of HEART, certified by TÜV Rheinland, allows Henkel Adhesive Technologies to provide precise PCF reports, improving both their sustainability footprint and that of their customers. Ulla Hüppe, vice president of sustainability, highlighted that this digital platform marks a significant step towards achieving 100% transparency in all Henkel industrial adhesives by 2030. The initiative also positions Henkel adhesives products as leaders in reducing emissions across the supply chain.
Additionally, Henkel is actively involved in sustainability initiatives like "Together for Sustainability" and the Catena-X network, which standardize sustainability measures and data exchange within the chemical and automotive industries. This commitment ensures that Henkel adhesive products are at the forefront of sustainability efforts, providing clients with the data necessary to enhance their environmental impact.
